Spectrum Party

How to play

Spectrum Party is a team party game about reading minds on a spectrum. Here are the full rules.

Setup

Split into two teams, Coral and Teal, with at least two players each.

A random team goes first. The other team starts with 1 point to make up for going second.

1. The psychic gives a clue

Each round, one player on the active team is the psychic. They see a card with two opposites, like Cold ↔ Hot, and a hidden target somewhere on the dial.

The psychic gives one clue that points at the target. For a target close to Hot, “Sauna” works; for one just left of center, “Room-temperature soup” might.

2. The team turns the dial

Everyone else on the psychic’s team discusses the clue and drags the dial to where they think the target is. Anyone on the team can move it. When they agree, they lock it in.

The psychic must stay silent: no hints, no reactions.

3. The other team calls left or right

The opposing team guesses whether the real target is further left or further right than the locked dial.

4. Reveal and score

The target has five slices: 2-3-4-3-2. The active team scores the slice the dial landed in, or 0 for a miss. On a border, take the higher value.

The opposing team scores 1 point for a correct left/right call, unless the active team hit the 4-point bullseye.

Catch-up rule

If a team scores 4 points and is still behind, they immediately take another turn with a different psychic.

Winning

The first team to reach 10 points (adjustable by the host) ends the game, and the team with the most points wins.

If the scores are tied, play sudden-death rounds until one team is ahead.

Clue rules

Give a single idea — don’t combine two clues with “and” or “but”.

Don’t use words from the card, or numbers to point at a position.

Keep it short. Names of people, places, films and fictional characters are all fair game.
